Jenny encountered this impressive boar grizzly bear eyeing a roadside elk carcass along a back road just outside of Gardiner, Montana, and the Yellowstone National Park north entrance.
There have been a lot of grizzly bears in and around town, which is typical for fall when bears are putting on weight before hibernation. It's the time of year when we're extra diligent about storing garbage, bird feeders, and other attractants where bears can't get them, and when we carry bear spray EVERYWHERE, including our own driveway and the streets of downtown!
Ultimately this bear decided the carcass was too close to the road and meandered off, no doubt to return after dark.
