“Everyone’s turning back,” George said as the snow grew heavier on our way to Lamar Valley today. “Sounds like the perfect time to be out!”

If you wait for good weather, you’ll miss a lot of Yellowstone’s magic. We occupied ourselves with taking video of the snow, thinking that would be the most exciting viewing of the day. As usual, Yellowstone surprised us, this time with a beautiful red fox on a fresh bison carcass. Besides two other people, we were the only folks on the road.

(All photo and video was taken from a distance with telephoto lenses and spotting scopes.) Watching wildlife scavenge winter kill is one of the (morbid?) highlights of spring in Yellowstone.
