What you’ll experience in this challenge:

We'll send you easy activities and practices to try each day May 5-9 in a natural area near you. It could even be your own backyard!

You'll have the chance to join a community of other folks taking the challenge to ask questions and share your experiences in a private Facebook group (you do not need Facebook to participate in the challenge). We'll celebrate with a live Zoom webinar and Q&A on the last day.

You can do this anywhere you live, and all you need is 20-30 minutes each day. Can't do it every day for five days? You can spread it out over a timeframe that works for you; the practices will be yours to try on your own time.

Learning to listen in on "wild" conversations

Whether home is in an urban, suburban, or rural setting, you have all manner of neighbors of the nonhuman sort that have unique perspectives on the places you share.

Like how the squirrels feel about the hawk in the nearby tree, or what the chickadees have to say about the fox walking the fencerow.

Finding out what they are communicating is not only incredibly fun, but it can make your daily life so much richer. Seeing common places from an uncommon perspective gives us a deeper sense of what it means to be truly "at home."

Once you begin to sensitize your own eyes and ears to what’s happening closest to home those lessons will translate into any place you visit or travel.

Over the course of five days, we'll provide guided exercises that will help you increase your awareness of the animal world around you and help you begin listening in on wildlife conversations. What you find may surprise you!
